From childhood Rafael showed a keen interest in music, first when he was able to obtain his little sister's piano and later attending all the concerts and shows that he possibly could.

In 1986, the same year that Europe released The Final Countdown, he and his cousin constructed a home-made drum set from cans. From this moment onward Yugueros would never separate himself from his drums or from music in general, especially rock and Heavy Metal. Although early on he did have an appreciation for Jazz due to his exposure to an album by Art Blakey, 'The Jazz Messengers'.

En 1994, once he had acquired his first drum set, Rafael began to play with the hope of forming a band. He  would  become a member of the first formations of WarCry.

After the group dissolved he played with several other bands, namely Darna y Darksun.

Meanwhile, he played with an orquestra and different groups with varying styles, such as Blues, Jazz, Pop, etc.

Currently, he follows his musical interests by incorporating the benefits that different musical styles can add to his development.

As far as his formation as a musician, Rafael rooted himself as much in the classical methods of percussion as in the more modern. He received classes from several instructors in different styles, Felix Morales being the most influential.

For years he has been studying in depth the topic of  technique and musicality.

Lastly, Rafael combines his intense musical activity with his work as a drum instructor.
