At the age of eight Santi enrolled in the music school Escolonia de Covadonga where for six years he studied music language, piano and development of vocal techniques. During this period he participated in the recording of two albums which included an LP of concerts throughout Spain. The most important was the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, acompanied by the Symphonomic Orquesta of Asturias.
At thirteen he had the opportunity to direct an eight piece band with classmates from Escolonia. The band was awarded first place in the Musical Competición of Pola de Siero.
At fifteen he received an invitation to direct the Coral Polifónica of Cangas del Narcea, which included 50 male and female performers. During the two years that Santi was in this position he also attended conducting classes in Lleida and Covadonga. At this time he took charge of directing the Torner Vocal Cuartet with whom he recorded three albums. He was also involved in directing the student choir at the Conservatory of Oviedo.
His life as a musician took a turn with the formation of the group Dragón, a band created with the idea of playing local parties. However, the group"s repertoire was atypical to what Santi had been accustomed to up to that moment, as the majority of songs were Pop-Rock, Rock, and Heavy metal covers. Later he joined the group La Nave (The Ship), a band with similar characteristics to that of Dragón.
In 2004 he began to combine direction with the instruction of Pop-Rock vocal techniques at the Universidad Popular de Gijon. At the same time he performed as the keyboardist for the soul music group Los Redentores (The Redeemers)
In October of 2008 Santi began tryouts with WarCry in order to join band as it was promoting its album Revolución.
